Dodgers 3, D-Backs 1: Clayton Kershaw Wants To Know Where The Pool Is

As you well know by now, the last time Clayton Kershaw visited Chase Field, he lasted only 1.2 innings, having given up seven runs on six hits and two walks. Today he got the ball at Chase Field again, and he pitched the Dodgers to victory against the Diamondbacks, 3-1, surrendering one run (none earned) in eight innings of work. Kershaw “struggled” and didn’t have his best command, walking two batters, including the first batter of the game on four pitches. But he limited the D-Backs to six hits and struck out 10, lowering his MLB-leading ERA to 1.73.

In a jam? That’s when he does stuff like this to Mark Trumbo.

DUDE SUCKS

=====

As for the offense, Matt Kemp got the scoring started with a two-run double.

No, I don’t know how he got his hands inside of that.

Scott Van Slyke added to the lead with a homer, and him and Yasiel Puig did their version of the Adrian Beltre/Elvis Andrus territory games.

To say it wasn’t all fun and games for SVS is an understatement though, since he later sprained his ankle on this ugly looking play.

And please, before you send me 500 tweets about Joc Pederson, just wait a bit to see if this is even serious or not.

I GOT TO RECAP A WIN

=====

Justin Turner went 2-for-3 with a walk. He now has an .837 OPS. That is third on the team.

Kenley Jansen closed it out in the bottom of the ninth for his 100th career save.

-Yasiel Puig is hitless in his last like 50 at-bats or whatever, but at least he’s walking now, and the fact that the team can score without him carrying them is a positive as long as he starts hitting down the stretch at some point.
