Dodgers @ Brewers May 7, 2015: The Last Dodger Game For A While

You know, it’s too bad that absolutely no one is going to see this game — SNLA issues aside, it’s a 10:40 a.m. Pacific start on a Thursday morning — because, hey, that’s quite the matinee lineup that Don Mattingly‘s put together there.

I mean, it’s hard to complain with a top four of the insanely-hot Joc Pederson, Yasmani Grandal, who is doing so much better than you think he is, second, and then Howie Kendrick and Adrian Gonzalez. Alex Guerrero, continuing his “start every other day” streak, is fifth.

Now, this is partially because Jimmy Rollins gets the day off in favor of Enrique Hernandez, which removes him from the “why is he still hitting in the top two” conversation for the day, but still, it’s a nice lineup. It’s got a lot of power and OBP at the top. It will inevitably get shut out by Mike Fiers.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Chris Heisey is back in town and Joe Wieland has been optioned out, though I imagine that’s less related to yesterday’s tough start than you’d think. Interestingly, three of the next four games — today included — have righty starters, so unless they’re bringing Heisey up ahead of time to spot Pederson against Jorge De La Rosa on Saturday, he’s probably a bench piece only.

Of course, that assumes that any baseball actually gets played in Denver, which, yeah:

So enjoy this, because you might not see Dodger baseball for a few days. But that’s a tomorrow problem. Today’s problem is hoping that Carlos Frias can build on his productive first start, which is more important than ever considering that the news on Hyun-jin Ryu is worse than ever.
