Dodgers @ Cubs June 25, 2015: Day Baseball

A midweek early summer day game at Wrigley Field is probably the best thing in the world… if you’re there. Baseball, a brat, a beer in the sun, well, it’s just perfect.

If you’re not, and let’s just assume you aren’t, then you’re stuck at work trying to follow along at an inconvenient time, or you’re at home trying to figure out if you even get the game on TV.

Which is too bad, really. This is a big game for Carlos Frias, who really needs to show something here to avoid losing his rotation spot. For a while, it seemed like it would be your first opportunity in more than a month to see Alex Guerrero at third base, which looked like it would never happen again.

But Yasiel Puig, who was in the original lineup, was scratched again with that same blister issue, so rather than letting Andre Ethier face lefty Jon Lester, Guerrero moves to left, and Alberto Callaspo plays third. It won’t show up in the game logs, but let’s at least remember that for today, Guerrero at third was an option.

Also an option: sending rookies (in this case Mike Bolsinger, Joc Pederson, and Adam Liberatore) to get coffee, again.

Mmm, coffee. Let’s have some of that.
