The Los Angeles Dodgers put one in the win column to start 2020 with an Opening Day 5-4 triumph over the San Francisco Giants.

The crowd at Dodger Stadium watched Mookie Betts put on a fine performance in his Dodger debut. He went 2-for-3 with a 2-run home run and a walk. Corey Seager went 3-for-5 with a double while hitting in the No. 2 spot. Reigning NL MVP Cody Bellinger went 1-for-3 with a double and a stolen base.

Chris Taylor, who finished 4th in the NL in triples with 8 in 2018, helped out the Los Angeles cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring walk.

Feels good to get the job done,” Taylor said after the game. Thrilling stuff. This might be more realistic than I thought.

Walker Buehler got the Opening Day win. His line on the day: 6 1/3 IP, 8 H, 4 R/ER, 2 HR, 1 BB, 5 K, 99 pitches, 61 strikes. Blake Treinen made his Dodger debut with 1 2/3 scoreless innings, while Kenley Jansen turned in a 14-pitch ninth inning to pickup his first save of the season.

The Dodgers send Clayton Kershaw to the hill in Game 2 of the series. He’ll face off against Johnny Cueto.
