Phillies @ Dodgers May 15, 2022: Grove debuts as Dodgers look to avoid being swept

The Phillies can hit, apparently. They jumped all over Julio Urias last night and scored eight runs, the fewest they’ve scored in a game this series. The Dodger offense was stifled and the Dodgers have now lost four straight. They need a win tonight to avoid a four-game sweep.

The important thing is Bryce Harper is out of the lineup, as he’s having a procedure to repair a partially torn UCL.

The Dodgers made some roster moves to bring some fresh arms up. Reyes Moronta and Garrett Cleavinger were both optioned. Both appeared yesterday and threw more than 20 pitches, so the Dodgers called up Michael Grove to make his first career start and Shane Greene to provide a fresh arm in the bullpen. Greene wasn’t on the 40-man, so Victor Gonzalez was transferred to the 60-day IL to free up a spot.

Clayton Kershaw played catch yesterday and came out of it with some soreness.

He is scheduled to throw again tomorrow and the soreness doesn’t seem too troublesome for now.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM PT and will be shown on Sportsnet LA
