On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodgers Nation) and I recount Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw‘s dominance, and some prospect/draft news.
Greinke is now at 43 2/3 scoreless innings. That’s really good (#analysis). He owns a 1.30 ERA, and he isn’t even the best pitcher on his own team.
That distinction (still) goes to Kershaw, who struck out 14 in eight innings on Saturday. Reports of his demise were greatly premature.
Turns out Adrian Gonzalez is still good at hitting baseballs. He’s tied with Joc Pederson for the team lead in home runs with 20.
Julio Urias is on his way back, but I’m still skeptical how the layoff is going to impact his development. Corey Segaer is sick (like, literally), but he’ll be back soon. Jose De Leon is still really good. He had another double-digit strikeout game last week. He’s probably going to be traded soon.
Walker Buehler signed, but reportedly needs Tommy John surgery. Kyle Funkhouser didn’t sign, leaving $2 million on the table. Both of those bits of news put a damper on the Dodgers’ draft, but they did commit to some high-upside high schoolers, so it wasn’t all for naught.
You folks must have been missing the show, as we got a ton of questions (a lot about the upcoming trade deadline). Thank you!
