Buckle up, this is the best pitching match-up so far this year, and might be the best we see all season.

Walker Buehler is coming off his best start of the year. He allowed three runs, but they all came late in the outing and it was the first start of the year in which it looked like he had a good feel for his curveball. Given that Buehler didn’t have a spring training, a few starts to round into form should be expected, and that form has been found. Now, he needs to build consistency with it.
Max Scherzer, like Buehler, has struggled to start the season. Most of those struggles seem to be captured in a .377 BABIP, as he has a 3.78 ERA and a 1.94 FIP, which would be a career high. In 52-1/3 innings he has struck out 72 batters and walked 9 (1 intentionally). That sounds more like Scherzer than a 3.78 ERA. The Dodgers have their work cut out for them. Those Dodgers do have Corey Seager back today after he got yesterday off.

I wasn’t supposed to do the Game Thread tonight because I only have five minutes in which to write it, so that’s all the Game Thread you’re getting.
The pitching matchup speaks for itself anyways. Enjoy the game.
