After Stephen Strasburg signed yesterday, the Dodgers were down to two difference-making free agents for their roster, and now that Gerrit Cole has signed with the Yankees they are down to just Anthony Rendon.
Yeah.
This sucks, man.
Of course, as mentioned earlier today, it always seemed like Rendon was the more realistic target for the Dodgers, but reports have said they not only had heavy interest in Cole but that it was Cole who was actually their top priority.
Verducci said “they were in the same general area” as the Yankees. Shrug.

I did manage to confirm this, hearing that the Dodgers made a competitive offer and seemed serious about Cole.
So all that sucks, but things managed to get even worse when Dodgers were linked to Madison Bumgarner.
I … no.
