With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic only getting worse in America, some players (like Mike Trout) have expressed reservations about playing in 2020. Their reasoning is partially for themselves, but mainly for fear of what could happen to those around them. Today, David Price expressed similar concerns when opting out of the 2020 season.
Given how he looked in Spring Training, I had optimism about Price this year. Certainly though, the Dodgers have the depth, especially in a short season, to replace him.
Of course, this isn’t a baseball thing as much as it is a safety thing, and I find it hard to fault him (or anybody) from seeing what’s going on and passing. Hopefully fans are understanding of his decision, especially given what he did for the organization before even throwing a pitch for it.
