Rockies @ Dodgers Sept. 4, 2020 – Senzatela vs. May to open the weekend

The Dodgers, fresh off a sweep of the lowly Diamondbacks, welcome in the Rockies, whom they swept a couple weeks ago. They’re looking for their 30th win in 40 games, which is super good. #analysis

Dustin May, the Dodgers’ leader in innings pitched after he records his fourth out tonight, gets his second crack at the Rockies. He threw five innings of 1-run ball on Aug. 22. He carries a nifty 2.83 ERA and a not-so-nifty 4.16 FIP into the start. The sinkerballer has allowed four homers in 35 innings coming into the start.

Corey Seager gets the call at DH today, with Chris Taylor filling in at shortstop. I’d like to see Gavin Lux get a shot at shortstop when Seager is DHing or out of the lineup, but I’m just a dumb writer.

Speaking of Lux, he had some positive words for the last couple of Dodger draft classes.

Bobby Miller, Kody Hoese and the like are going to have to step up to keep the farm system near the top of the rankings. With the Dodgers’ player development staff, I’m optimistic.

Aww. Ross Stripling doesn’t look nearly as good in that uniform as he did a Dodger one, but at least he’s getting a chance to start for a team that definitely needed pitching.
