D-backs @ Dodgers Sept. 14, 2021: Weaver vs. Gonsolin; playoff berth incoming?

The Dodgers are looking to take the second game of this 3-game series with the Diamondbacks and — let’s be real — keep pace with the Giants, because they’re apparently never going to lose again. Seriously, Jake Arrieta is pitching for San Diego tonight. Frisco might drop 20.

In LA, Tony Gonsolin gets the call against Luke Weaver, with a chance to clinch a postseason berth on the line.

Neat.

Here are some notes from the beat.

Kenley Jansen and his wife brought a beautiful little girl into the world, so he’s back from paternity. Mitch White — who has to be racking up some serious frequent flyer miles — was optioned yet again.

——

Gavin Lux has looked … not bad (?) in left field. At this point, it’s about his only path to any kind of significant playing time.

——

Never thought we’d be pining for AJ Pollock to come back healthy in September, but here we are. He’s been great, and the Dodgers sure could use his bat.

——

I’m down. Get fucked, Mike.
