The Dodgers won game one of this doubleheader against the Mets by a score of 5-2. Here’s Chad’s game recap to get you caught up. Long story short, the offense looked terrible early and a two-run homer by Francisco Lindor in the second inning gave the Mets a lead that felt insurmountable. Turns out, when you’re facing the Mets, anything is possible. The Dodgers scored in the eighth and ninth innings and then Freddie Freeman added a two run shot in the tenth to essentially solidify things. They should’ve lost this game multiple times in multiple ways. Alas, Gavin Stone will be on the mound up against the veteran lefty, Jose Quintana.

Here’s how Stone and Quintana match up among 93 starting pitchers with at least 50 innings pitched.
Quintana allowed three runs on four hits over six innings in his last outing against Cleveland. He was great through the majority of the outing, but allowed a three-run home run in the sixth inning. It’s just the second quality start for Quintana in ten outings this season though he’s looked better of late.
Stone took the loss Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, as he allowed four earned runs on eight his with a walk over six innings. Stone reached at least six innings for a fifth consecutive outing but allowed one too many runs to nab another quality start. just missed out on a quality start this time around. The Diamondbacks notched two runs in the second, and one in the fifth, before Christian Walker crushed a solo home run in the sixth to make it a 4-1 game. Prior to that he hasn’t given up more than a run in a month, and his first loss since April 7.
