Last night’s game was rough, so tonight is the rubber match between the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. The two teams have split their previous eight games this season and Arizona has actually outscored the Dodgers 42-38 on the season (thanks to a 12-4 win last night). Tonight’s game is the final game between the two teams in LA, but they have another four games in Arizona from August 30-September 2.

The Dodger rotation has had a rough go of it this week, and tonight Landon Knack looks to continue his excellence at home. Knack’s allowed three earned runs in 14 2/3 innings in LA over three starts and has yet to allow more than two runs in a game in any of his six starts overall. He faces off against Zac Gallen, who returned from a month-long injury last weekend and held the A’s to one hit over six shutout frames. This is the Dodgers’ first look at Gallen in 2024 after they lit him up twice in the regular season in 2023. Gallen allowed 11 runs in 10 innings against the Dodgers last season and served up four homers in the two games. He fared much better in the postseason, where he held the Dodgers to two runs over 5 1/3 innings in the NLDS.

The Dodgers have a much-needed fresh arm in the bullpen, as Nick Ramirez was called up and Michael Petersen was sent back to AAA.
The Dodgers recalled LHP Nick Ramirez and optioned RHP Michael Petersen.

Sending the British dude out on Fourth of July is crazy.

Some injury updates regarding Clayton Kershaw, Max Muncy and our first update on Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
The Dodgers are planning for Yoshinobu Yamamoto to start playing catch again late next week, per Dave Roberts

Yamamoto has only thrown plyo balls to this point
Max Muncy is still swinging off a tee, but his progress is “slow,” Dave Roberts said. Still dealing with some soreness in his oblique. Definitely something that’ll last longer than the 60 days on the IL.

Kershaw threw a bullpen today and could throw a sim game this weekend before restarting his rehab assignment. Muncy is progressing slowly and still has soreness in his oblique. Yamamoto is expected to start playing catch for the first time next week and has been doing plyo work.

Some updates on pitching plans this weekend. Aaron Civale will make his Brewer debut Friday night against Tyler Glasnow. James Paxton and Freddy Peralta are the scheduled starters for Saturday’s game, and the Dodgers are starting TBD on Sunday against Dallas Keuchel, who I absolutely knew was still in the league.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 PM PT and will be shown on SportsNet LA.
