The Dodgers failed to cash in some opportunities on Sunday against the Blue Jays. They fell 3-1 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Michael Grove drew the start in a bullpen game for LA. He got through the first inning scoreless before allowing a 3-spot in the second inning that was capped by an Alejandro Kirk solo home run. Grove finished the day allowing four hits, three runs and striking out three in two innings of work. Ryan Yarbrough kept the Dodgers in the game with four scoreless innings that included two strikeouts.
The Dodgers’ lone run came on a sixth-inning Freddie Freeman homer off Blue Jays’ starter Kevin Gausman.

It was just his second home run of the season.
In the top of the eighth inning, the Dodgers had second and third with no outs. That ended up with them having the bases loaded with two outs. Max Muncy came within a few feet of hitting a go-ahead grand slam, but Daulton Varsho made a leaping catch at the wall to end the threat. They were 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven runners on base. Never a great recipe for success in a 3-1 game.
Andy Pages tried to get something started in the ninth, but George Springer had other plans.

The Dodgers fall to 18-12 on the season, while the Blue Jays improve to 14-15. LA heads back West to take on the defending National League Champion Diamondbacks Monday night in Arizona at Chase Field. James Paxton will oppose lefty Tommy Henry. First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
