Coming off a rather depressing series loss, the Dodgers went ahead on Will Smith homers early but then were suddenly dumped down into the dumps by a bad Tyler Glasnow sequence. However, a third Dills homer tied things up in the later innings, and then Freddie Freeman won it in the 8th as only he can in an 8-5 victory over the Brewers.
======
Facing Aaron Civale making his Brewers debut, the Dodgers managed a pair of early runs between the 12th and 13th homers of the season for Smith in the 1st and 3rd innings to put the Dodgers up 2-0.

Unfortunately, after Glasnow had a perfecto through the first three innings, things quickly unraveled in the 4th.
An infield single and a walk started things, though he did rebound with a strikeout. However, Willy Adames poked a single to right to score a run, then after a walk loaded the bases, it was Rhys Hoskins drilling a grand slam to put the Brewers up 5-2.

Thankfully, he did eventually settle in and get the Dodgers length for once, with Glasnow’s only baserunner the rest of the way coming on an error.
Not good, but he kept the Dodgers in it at least: 6 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 7 K, 98 Pitches.
Tyler Glasnow's final line: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 5 R (5 ER), 1 HR (a grand slam), 7 Ks, 98 pitches/66 strikes. This is the longest start by a Dodger since Gavin Stone's shutout on June 26. pic.twitter.com/xszxW3f68L

That proved important, as surprisingly the Dodgers rallied back. After an Andy Pages single started the 4th, it was Miguel Vargas (PLAY HIM PLEASE! JUST TRY IT!) lining his second homer of the year over the wall in left to cut the Brewers lead to 5-4.

Still it was quiet for a bit, and while Civale was gone after five, in the 7th it was old friend Bryan Hudson and his sub-1 ERA. The first two outs were expected, but that brought up Smith, who swung and smashed his third homer of the game, his 14th of the year, to tie things up at 5-5.

They then loaded the bases after that, but couldn’t capitalize on the chance.
Things were different in the 8th, as after Vargas singled (again, play him), Chris Taylor drew a walk, and Smith also walked to load things up with two outs. That brought in Hoby Milner, who got kinda screwed on a strike three before Freeman reached down and poked a single up the middle for a pair of runs. Teoscar Hernandez followed by doubling in insurance and it was 8-5.

Out of the pen was Blake Treinen in the 7th, who faced the minimum after erasing an infield single with a pickoff. Daniel Hudson was next, and he cruised through a perfect 8th, then Evan Phillips entered and struck out the side in the 9th for the win.
Casual!

Also, it was Hololive collab night, which didn’t provide as much awkward mess as I thought, but was still amusing.
