The Dodgers (45-26) had about as disappointing a 7-1 win as possible last night. The offense struck early against Sean Burke and gave way to Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who came four outs away from a perfect game. Mookie Betts made an error with two outs in the eighth to spoil the perfecto, and Yamamoto proceeded to lose the no-hit bid after a Tristan Peters leadoff homer in the ninth. It spoiled a nearly historic day for Yamamoto, who dating back to his last start against the Angels had retired 45 consecutive batters. This put him in a tie with Mark Buehrle for the second longest streak in baseball history and one batter shy of Yusmeiro Petit‘s record. A downer ending, but still a dominant bounceback win that gives the Dodgers a shot to win the series today. Emmet Sheehan starts for the Dodgers against Bryan Hudson and Erick Fedde.

Hudson serves as the opener and faced the Dodgers on Friday, getting three groundouts in a perfect sixth inning. The Dodgers roll with their normal lineup with the righty Fedde expected to take the bulk of this game. Fedde’s been solid for most of the season, but is still trying to recover his ERA after giving up eight runs in 3 1/3 innings against the Giants on May 23. Outside of that, he’s been a pretty consistent 5-ish inning 3-ish run type of starter.
Not much to report on the update front. Miguel Rojas left yesterday’s game early and is reportedly dealing with a shin issue. He should be available if needed today.
First pitch is scheduled for 11:10 PM PT and will be on SportsNet LA.
