Cubs 6+, Dodgers 1+: Eric Lauer finally loses to run the streak to 6, World Series hopes over in August

In the final game of the Cubs series, a five-game streak (Dodgers losing) went up against a nine-game streak (Eric Lauer winning), and unfortunately the power of the Dodgers Month Of Humiliation won out for a sixth loss in a row. Dunno the score since I published this before it ended.

Shohei Ohtani started the game with his 25th homer of the year, and then the rest of the game was your regularly scheduled terribleness.

As you probably figured by the overall tone so far, Lauer finally got shelled, and so that was basically it since the offense wasn’t gonna do much about it.

Update

They actually did make a late run at it for the sake of amusement.

At this point, the worst part of the losing streak is that it gives the most miserable people on Earth a reason to act like the season is over as if they’ve never been through a season of baseball before. Sane people can, of course, ignore such things. But since I’m covering it daily and am thus online for all of it, I have to see it over and over.

Anyway, I gave the insufferable what they wanted in the title, so maybe they can give it a rest in the comments for once. But probably not.
