NLDS Game 2, Part 2: Zack Greinke’s game, so far

We’re through 5 1/2 innings, and it’s been the Zack Greinke show in Chavez Ravine tonight. He’s absolutely dealing and contributing on offense (2-for-2, run scored).

He also contributed on the base paths by kinda avoiding a tag by Cardinals’ second baseman Kolten Wong. He tagged Greinke with an empty glove. The play was challenged by Don Mattingly, and Greinke was awarded second base. Adrian Gonzalez drove him in with a single to center field.

There was a little situation in the first inning with Yasiel Puig and Yadier Molina. Lance Lynn threw a fastball up in the zone with some arm-side run. It was a little too close for Puig’s comfort (wasn’t that close to hitting him, but I’m writing this from the comfort of my living room). Molina said something to Puig, Puig replied. Then, Puig struck out, Molina again said something and the home plate umpire escorted Puig back to the dugout.

Of course, the national media never misses a chance to fuel a bogus narrative, with people saying Puig got in the umpire’s face, Puig was at fault, etc. You know, the usual crap. Chad got a little feisty, which is always fun.

The bottom line is, Molina may have gotten into Puig’s head, as he’s 0-for-3 with three strikeouts. Let’s hope the rest of this game goes better than last night’s.
