On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodgers Nation) and I talk rejoice in a pretty good week for the Dodgers. Consider last week was so awful, this was a welcome sight.
We recorded before Sunday’s game ended, so we didn’t get a chance to talk about Jake Arrieta‘s no-hitter. Breaking news: He’s really good at pitching.
Arrieta improved his Cy Young chances, but unless Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke collapse, it could be a 2-horse race. Ultimately, it’s Kershaw’s award to lose.
Yasiel Puig went on the disabled list, but it’s fortunate the Dodgers are so deep in the outfield (even with Enrique Hernandez‘s hamstring injury). Expect to see a lot more of Carl Crawford in September.
Rosters are expanding tomorrow, and the Dodgers figure to get stronger and deeper at the major league level. Two players much talked about coming up are Julio Urias and Corey Seager. I say yes on Urias, no on Seager … but I wouldn’t be surprised if Seager gets the call at some point in September. Jharel Cotton is also a guy who could come up. He has done nothing but dominate for the last two seasons.
To close, we have a Q&A. Good and plentiful questions. Keep them coming.
