On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodgers Nation) and I talk about the worst first-place team in sports history.
Corey Seager is still great. Jimmy Rollins is close to returning. It’ll be interesting to see if Don Mattingly sticks to his statement in saying Rollins will play when he returns. Seager isn’t making it an easy decision, though.
Dodgers lost a game off their NL West lead last week. It’s only 7 1/2 now. The world is surely ending.
Mat Latos was demoted to the bullpen, but he has yet to actually pitch in that role. We’ll see how effective he is.
On the farm, Oklahoma City and Great Lakes were swept in their respective playoff series. Rancho Cucamonga won Game 1 on the strength of a Cody Bellinger walk-off 3-run homer in extra innings and a great pitching performance by Chase De Jong. They lost Game 2.
And speaking of Bellinger, he’s establishing himself as a Top 10 prospect in the system, and he’s pushing the Top 5.
The podcast concludes with a Q&A session. Good ones. Please keep them coming.
