This isn’t the first time the Dodgers and Yimi Garcia have been damaged by a Carlos Gonzalez home run — and it won’t be the last. The Rockie outfielder launched a walk-off home run to down the Dodgers 8-6 on Saturday night.
The Dodgers got down early 4-0 after Nolan Arenado hit a grand slam (his 40th home run) off struggling starter Brett Anderson. The first three batters reached on infield singles, which apparently is kinda his thing.

In Coors Field, though, that lead isn’t insurmountable even by the most inept of offensive clubs.
The Dodgers struck back with Andre Ethier‘s 14th home run of the season — a no-doubter in any park. The Rockies got those two back before the Dodgers rallied in the sixth inning to tie the game. Corey Seager led off with a triple and was driven in by a Chase Utley single. Justin Turner and Andre Ethier followed with back-to-back doubles that tied the game. Unfortunately, the Dodgers couldn’t score anymore.

Anderson was hit around: 4 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HR, 70 pitches, 45 strikes, 9/0 GO/AO. He’s losing the firm grip he had on the No. 3 starter spot he had just a few weeks ago. The bullpen was able to keep Colorado at bay, as Garcia pitched out of a mild jam in the eighth inning by striking out Wilin Rosario and a pop out by Charlie Blackmon. But CarGo go the last laugh with his 39th home run of the season.
The Dodgers fall to 87-67 with the loss. Their magic number to clinch the NL West remains at two. Alex Wood (11-11, 3.60 ERA) toes the slab against Chris Rusin (5-9, 5.39). First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. Pacific time. It’d be swell to not get swept.
