Podcast: ‘Dugout Blues’ episode 149 – Ethier out, Seager coming back, injuries

On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodger Blue) and I record on a Saturday again, since Sunday was Easter.

Andre Ethier broke his tibia after fouling a ball off his leg. He’s out for 10-14 weeks. While not good, the Dodgers should be able to withstand his loss for a bit.

Corey Seager is working his way back from the knee strain that has kept him out a couple weeks. He should be ready for opening day.

Yasmani Grandal and Howie Kendrick are dealing with nagging injuries and could begin the season on the disabled list.

Mike Bolsinger had the fifth starter spot locked up until he suffered and abdominal strain. Scott Kazmir had some mild discomfort in a similar area, but he insists he’ll be OK for his next start. Injuries, man.

The fifth starter is down to Carlos Frias and Zach Lee. Both were “meh” over the weekend, so it’s still not all sorted out.

Jared recaps his time at spring training, complete with a takedown of Yusniel Diaz. Seriously, he called him “org depth.”

Finally, if you’re still listening, we have a Q&A session. Good stuff, please keep them coming.
