Alex Wood looks to rebound from his rocky first start of the season, wherein he held the Giants scoreless for four innings before the bottom fell out and he exited in the sixth inning without recording an out. He wound up being charged with five earned runs. With the bullpen under scrutiny, a solid outing from him would be a nice boost to the club.
Yasmani Grandal, who was activated from the disabled list yesterday after dealing with right forearm soreness, will get the start today at catcher and bat sixth. Howie Kendrick makes his first start for the Dodgers in left field after playing an inning there yesterday. He made his post-DL return to the lineup yesterday, starting at second before being moved to left for the ninth inning; he notched one hit in four at bats. When you can bat Kendrick seventh in a major-league lineup, you know that lineup has some length to it.
Carl Crawford is almost ready for a rehab assignment.
Carl Crawford will begin rehab assignment Wednesday and is expected rejoin when Dodgers are in Denver.

So, perhaps the Kendrick-in-left-field experiment will be a short one.
Meanwhile, former Dodger prospect/Nick Punto trade member Rubby De La Rosa is on the mound for Arizona. The Dodgers did well in the four starts he made against them in 2015, winning all four games and scoring a total of 22 runs on 28 hits in 17 2/3 innings pitched. We’ll see if that trend continues tonight.
