Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports broke the news that RHP Josh Ravin has been suspended 80 games for use of a “banned substance.” Ravin, who is currently on the 60-day DL following a car accident in which he broke his left arm, will now be unavailable “until after the All-Star break.”
Ravin has been in the Dodgers’ system since 2014. He made nine relief appearances for Los Angeles last year, striking out 12 and walking four in his 9 1/3 innings of work. Three of the 13 hits he allowed were home runs. He did not make any appearances in this year’s Spring Training, as, prior to the accident, he was dealing with a nasty case of the flu that caused him to drop 15 pounds.
That flu is what he’s blaming this on:
