On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodger Blue) and I are back to talk everything Clayton Kershaw … and the Dodgers, I guess.
Yes, it turns out Kershaw is still good at baseball. He will continue to be good at baseball for quite awhile.
Scott Kazmir had his best outing of the season on Saturday night and he might finally be settling into some sort of groove for the season. That can only be good for the Dodgers.
Corey Seager is heating up. We recorded before he hit two homers on Sunday, but he was already hitting well before that. There’s a pretty good chance he ends the season as the team’s best hitter.
Trayce Thompson probably deserves some more playing time, while Alex Wood continues to be dominant at Dodger Stadium.
On the minor-league side, Julio Urias is still great and is still being somewhat coddled. Jose De Leon is MIA after making his first start of the season almost a couple weeks ago (he has since been placed on the disabled list in the minors). Yusniel Diaz is also MIA … in the field. He has been the designated hitter for the Quakes in his last five appearances. He’s still covering from a shoulder issue. Cody Bellinger hit a walk-off grand slam and could finally start to get on track after missing the first month of the season. Finally, Brock Stewart continues to be quite good at Double-A and will start getting some notice if he keeps up his performance.
We close with a Q&A. Thank you for the questions. Please keep them coming.
