Dodgers @ Nationals July 19, 2016: Kershaw has setback, everything is awful

The Dodgers begin a 3-game set with the Nationals after receiving a ton of bad news — including some that may determine the rest of the season.

It wasn’t bad enough that Hyun-Jin Ryu is out with some elbow soreness, but now this:

Welp.

This sounds about as bad as possible. The offense and some starters have stepped up in Clayton Kershaw‘s absence, but if he’s out for an even longer time was originally thought, it’s going to be tough to win come October.

I’m not saying the season is over, but if Kershaw is done, then so are the Dodgers.

Onto some less-bad news…

That’s not great. The rest of his 2016 season is likely in jeopardy.

What else ya got, Dodgers?

Oh. That’s not too bad, all things considered. Corey Seager should be back in the next day or two.

Anything else?

Instead of pitching Brock Stewart on an extra day of rest or Jose De Leon on normal rest, the Dodgers are moving Bud Norris‘ start up (fine) and recalling Julio Urias to start on Thursday. That seems less than ideal.

Imagine the largest, most confusing shrug emoji you can and place it right here, and multiply it by 100.

Urias has thrown one single, solitary inning since his July 4 start. It will have been 10 days between outings for Urias when he starts on Thursday. I just don’t understand the mindset and thinking here.

That’s it. I’m sad.
