Diamondbacks @ Dodgers July 31, 2016: Trade rumors heating up

By the time the first pitch is thrown, we’ll be less than 24 hours from the non-waiver trade deadline. There haven’t been any moves yet, but the #hugwatch is in full effect.

First up, Double-A Tulsa.

I’m sorry, there’s nothing random about Cody Bellinger and Alex Verdugo being out of the Tulsa lineup the day before the trade deadline. You’re a rube if you believe otherwise.

This hasn’t changed. Chris Archer appears to be the Dodgers’ top target. It remains to be seen if they land him.

Chad put it best when he said Matt Moore is basically the same pitcher as Scott Kazmir.

On the Jay Bruce front…

Bruce was originally in the Reds’ lineup. Again, this is intentional as the Reds will be moving Bruce within the next 24 hours.

This is crazy to think about, seeing as Jonathan Lucroy rejected a trade to Cleveland. There would have to be a ton of moving parts for Lucroy to end up in LA. Texas is the most logical and realistic landing spot at this time.

Also, I’m convinced Heyman is calling Josh Reddick a right-handed hitter on purpose to troll Twitter. Otherwise, I don’t know, man.

=====

Anyhoo, onto some Dodger news. Yasiel Puig is back in the lineup after not starting for a week (he pinch-hit on Friday night). As of press time, he has not been scratched from the lineup.

Enrique Hernandez is also back and has supplanted Joc Pederson as today’s starting center fielder. Seeing as the Dodgers are facing a lefty in Patrick Corbin, it was to be expected. To make room for him, future Ray Austin Barnes was optioned to Triple-A.

I was wrong. He had four plate appearances.
