On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodger Blue) and I recap the 2016 Winter Meetings. The Dodgers made one signing and were rumored to be in on just about everyone.
Rich Hill re-signed — 3 years, $48 million. It’s a great deal for his level of production, but there is definitely risk involved. You can’t get a pitcher of his caliber for that price without there being significant risks.
As of recording time, Justin Turner and Kenley Jansen are still free agents. It seems more likely the Dodgers bring back Turner rather than Jansen. Those pesky Marlins are really after Kenley’s services, so the Dodgers might have to turn to a guy like Alex Colome or David Robertson.
Brian Dozier is the name coming up most in Dodger trade rumors. The match and fit is too good not to happen. I’d almost be disappointed if it doesn’t. I was on a Twins-focused podcast earlier this week to discuss the trade possibility. The names that have been bandied about most are Jose De Leon, Gavin Lux, Yasiel Puig, Jordan Sheffield, Trayce Thompson, and Andrew Toles. They might also be interested in the services of Logan Forsythe of the Rays.
We wrap up with a strong Q&A session. Please keep the questions coming.
