On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodger Blue) and I are still alive, contrary to reports.
The Dodgers’ second base search is finally over! They acquired Logan Forsythe from the Rays for Jose De Leon. While it’s tough to see De Leon go, you have to give quality to get quality. Forsythe is a Top 10 second baseman in the game, and he fills the biggest hole the Dodgers had remaining this offseason.
De Leon’s progression through the minors has been a sight to behold. He was a 24th-round pick who catapulted his way to being a Top 35-40 prospect in all of baseball. He was definitely one of the Dodgers’ best draft picks (and certainly best late-round pick) in recent memory.
Forsythe isn’t Brian Dozier, but he’s a really good consolation prize. He has some pop, takes a walk (with some swing-and-miss), makes contact and figures to hit leadoff for the Dodgers. Now, the Dodgers can move on and finish the rest of the offseason (one more reliever, improve the fringes).
We spent the bulk of the show taking questions from the listeners. There were a ton of them and we appreciate all the inquiries. Please keep them coming.
