On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodger Blue) and I are back and joined by Dodgers’ right-handed pitching prospect Trevor Oaks.
Oaks is a good kid and was very generous with his time. He talked about his breakout 2016, how he added velocity, some added pitches and answers your questions.
Afterward, Jared and I talked about all the goings on in Dodger land over the last couple weeks — and there has been a lot.
Chase Utley is back, for reasons. While there won’t be a ton of playing time for the 38-year-old, there won’t need to be. He’s coming back for his Veteran Presents and to be Corey Seager‘s baseball dad.
The Dodgers also brought back an older (yet not as old as Utley) friend in Franklin Gutierrez. The former Dodger prospect (who was traded for Milton Bradley) was signed to a $2.6 million deal and is expected to be the right-handed portion of the left field platoon. I’m happy.
The Dodgers have also agreed to terms on a contract with Sergio Romo. His signing isn’t yet official, but it will be soon. It makes sense, but it’s still just kinda “meh.”
Also on the transaction front, Carlos Frias was sent to Cleveland and Brett Eibner was acquired from Oakland.
