Podcast: ‘Dugout Blues’ episode 198 – Urias, injuries, Wood, Bellinger

On this episode of Dugout Blues, Jared and I reconvene to bring you a quality baseball podcast.

Just kidding.

Julio Urias, literal phenom, is struggling. He was demoted to Triple-A Oklahoma City after getting rocked by the Marlins on Saturday. He needs to figure out what’s wrong and how to fix it, and the best way is probably not at the MLB level.

Rich Hill and Adrian Gonzalez are back. Hill had a good outing, while Gonzalez is showing signs of life at the plate.

Logan Forsythe and Kenta Maeda are almost back. They’re going to give the Dodgers a boost, and it just goes to show their depth is insane.

Forsythe will help pick up for Justin Turner, who went on the DL with — say it with me — a hamstring injury. Because all Dodgers — present, future, otherwise — will suffer hamstring injuries.

Cody Bellinger is exceeding expectations by hitting so well in his first shot at the majors. Even I didn’t think he’d be this good this quickly. Alex Wood is also good and is among the best pitchers in all of baseball this season.

Kenley Jansen tossed an immaculate inning. We were fawning over his -0.95 FIP before he gave up a home run to Justin Bour on Sunday. That pushed his FIP to an unacceptable 0.05. Should probably trade him.

Chris Taylor is going to win the NL MVP. They should just engrave his name into the trophy right now. Seriously, though, he has been a godsend early this season.

On the farm, Walker Buehler continued to dominate and Willie Calhoun had himself a week. Other players mentioned include Edwin Rios and friends.

To close, we have a lot of questions. We try to answer them. Please keep them coming.
