After a day off the Dodgers were glad to be back home and they showed it by pummeling the Blue Jays in a 16-3 victory to start their series.

Clayton Kershaw started tonight for the 22nd time in 2019 and for the 22nd time he went six innings. Perhaps no outing showcases how he’s able to do it than starts like tonight when he doesn’t have his best stuff or control and still manages to get it done.
Kershaw gave up three runs in his outing, all coming on solo homers. One was from Derek Fisher and two were from the impressive Bo Bichette, including this comical shot.
Apart from the three homers, Kershaw gave up three other hits and issued three walks, but got out of mess thanks to four double plays and six strikeouts.
Of course, everything was cool because the offense absolutely exploded. With two outs in the 3rd, A.J. Pollock got the Dodgers on the board with his ninth homer of the year. Max Muncy followed with a walk on what was a questionable ball call.
Will Smith immediately cashed in with his 11th homer of the year.
He gud.
Comically, that wasn’t it. Bellinger then singled and Chris Taylor walked, then Corey Seager cashed the both in with a double to right.
Things continued in the 4th after Kershaw walked, Pollock doubled, and Muncy walked to load the bases. Who else but Bellinger then unloaded them with a double into the gap in right-center.
Of course, the important thing here is that Bellinger’s belt broke and his pants slid off.

Always giving the people what they want.
The Dodgers put up another crooked number in the 6th. Muncy smashed his 32nd dong of the year to make it 9-3.

After back-to-back walks to Smith and Bellinger, fresh off the IL Taylor yanked a three-run dong (9th) to make it 12-3.
Oop.
Meanwhile, Caleb Ferguson took over in the 7th and got a scoreless inning, walking a batter but striking one out as well. The recently recalled Dylan Floro got the 8th, allowing a hit but keeping the Blue Jays off the scoreboard.
The bats then piled on the 9th, getting another four runs. Matt Beaty doubled to start and CT3 singled to plate a run. Enrique Hernandez singled to put runners on the corners and then Joc Pederson followed by smashing his 25th dong of the year, a three-run shot to make it 16-3.
Yimi Garcia was given the 9th and finished things off with a 1-2-3 frame that included a strikeout.

The Dodgers are now 83-44 on the year. They lead the Diamondbacks in the NL West by 19 games, the Braves in the NL by 8 games, and are tied with the Yankees for the best record in baseball.
Tomorrow the two teams do it again at the same time of 4:10 PM HST/7:10 PM PST/10:10 PM EST. Walker Buehler will look to bounce back from his last start against … well, somebody.
