The Los Angeles Dodgers picked up a win at Colorado Field, taking down the Colorado Rockies, 5-4. Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw was a big reason why. Kershaw got the win, improving to 8-0, because yay pitcher wins.
Kershaw’s line: 7 1/3 IP, 6 H, 4 R/ER, 0 BB, 8 K, 2 HR, 104 pitches, 71 strikes. In Coors Field, that’ll play.
“We did enough to win,” Kershaw said.
Not sure if this GOAT or a real goat would have given a better quote.
The bullpen chipped in with a solid effort, getting the final five outs of the game that culminated in an Adam Kolarek (!) save — his first of the season.
One of the key players for the Dodgers was center fielder Cody Bellinger, who drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning. For the game, Bellinger went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. It was the reigning NL MVP’s 10th dong of the season. Gavin Lux chipped in with a 3-for-5 day that raised his team-best batting average to .339. Mookie Betts also contributed three hits to the winning cause.
With the victory, the Dodgers upped their record to 30-22. Brusdar Graterol is making his first start of the season on Tuesday. He’ll face off against not-Clayton-Kershaw Antonio Senzatela.
