The Los Angeles Dodgers got a good effort from starter Clayton Kershaw in defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday by an 8-0 score at Dodger Stadium.
Kershaw made it look effortless. He scattered 3 hits over 8 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. The Los Angeles left-hander encountered little resistance from the Arizona hitters. His season record is now 11-0, because pitcher wins definitely mean something. It was his best outing of the simulated season.
“If we play like this, we can win a lot of games,” Kershaw told the Los Angeles Chronicle.
Maybe if the Times changes its name, it’ll change its long-term outlook. Probably not, but maybe get rid of Bill Plaschke anyway? Just a thought.
Madison Bumgarner, sporting an ugly 6.29 ERA after the outing, gave up two home runs — one to Corey Seager, one to Gavin Lux. Lux would add another ding dong later on to give him 16 on the season. He has been the Dodgers’ second-best player (3.3 WAR vs. Seager’s 3.4) during this simulated season. Not only will he, likely, be the NL Rookie of the Year, he has a legitimate MVP case at this stage of the season.
The win gives Los Angeles a season record of 42-31. Alex Wood faces off against Luke Weaver on Wednesday in the third game of the 4-game series.
