Folks, I absolutely did not forget to write this recap, I’m just trying to make the timing of it as realistic as possible with the late-night post.
Anyway, the Dodgers took the series opener against the Marlins, 6-3. And sure, while one could focus on greatness like Clayton Kershaw, we must never forget to recognize Caleb Ferguson‘s resurgence, as he now has six saves in 11 attempts! Over 50% is good, right? Right!
Seriously though, Kershaw did the bulk of the work, going 7.1 innings and limiting the Marlins to just two runs.
“I take a professional approach to my job,” said Kershaw. “I’ve been around this game for a while.“
Offensively, Max Muncy was a prime factor in the win for the Dodgers. In the bottom of the second with no one out, the 29-year-old first baseman hit a two-run double that put the team in cruise control for a bit.
The Dodgers didn’t score off Marlins relief corps, but the six runs in less than three innings against the starter was good enough.
That set things up for the Dodges pen. Blake Treinen struggled, but got through the eighth after allowing three hits and a run while getting just two outs. Then came Ferguson, who hilariously got the save on just three pitches.
Los Angeles now has a three-game win streak, while Miami has lost three in a row. Finally, the simulation Dodgers are starting to play to expectations a bit.
