The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves yesterday to win the 2020 NLCS in a dramatic seven games, winning the last three in a row to complete an improbable comeback from 3-1 down. Given how things have gone for this team in the playoffs over the years, it just seems almost surreal even as I write this hours later.
As has been the expectation so far for this pandemic season, when they barely reacted at all to the NL Wild Card Series sweep over the Brewers and only did slightly more for the NL Division Series sweep over the Padres, things by design couldn’t get as raucous as they usually would be, but winning the way they did certainly did lead to a lot more emotions.

For starters, here is relief hero of Game 7 closing out the Braves in the 9th.
The celebration can’t involve spraying champagne (technically), but they were certainly as animated as we’ve seen them so far this playoffs.
Andrew Friedman and Dave Roberts later accepted the trophy during the presentation, with Dave in particular giving an emotional speech then explaining himself in the presser.
Corey Seager took home NLCS MVP honors, which was never in doubt given how he performed.
Cody Bellinger, of course, was one of the stars of Game 7 and certainly got his due.
One of the most valuable players for Game 7 hardly played in the game but he made his appearance count with a huge game-tying pinch-hit homer late. Enrique Hernandez talked with Ken Rosenthal in a predictably funny interview.
Mookie Betts didn’t have the best offensive series, but as has been made clear all year, the team clearly follows his lead now and his defense arguably changed the tide of the entire series.
Kenley Jansen really rebounded to prominence this series, and seems to have regained some of the stuff he lost over the past couple of weeks and he talked about how he did that.
Justin Turner is having an atypically down postseason so far, but this is likely his last hurrah with the team and he knows the ring is right there now.
The fun thing about proclamations like this is it’s either gonna be widely mocked or will be shown in every Dodgers highlight package about this run for decades.
