In what I thought would be an impossibility, the Dodgers are already down to 0-1 on the season after taking a 3-0 loss from Noah Syndergaard and the Mets despite it still being February.
The outcome was made all the more surprising since Thor is rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and the Dodgers had the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner and new highest-paid player in baseball going.
The game highlights aren’t memorable ones for Dodger fans, as Syndergaard makes a light joke about Bauer’s apology to Mets fans, to which Bauer then eventually gets the red-ass and immediately goes searching for the screenshots he had saved or whatever weird shit.
At that point Syndergaard has him teed up and finishes the job without much fuss.
Tough scene.
It’s a disappointing debut for Bauer, one might even say it was a soft showing from him, but there’s lots of season left and hopefully he’ll learn from his mistakes as he’s claimed he would.
The only reprieve from this shock start to the year is that nobody took a bigger loss in this exchange than Richard Staff.
======
Dodgers are now 0-1 on the season and trail every other team in the NL West by 0.5 games.
The next matchup will hopefully be Opening Day on April 1 against the Rockies in Colorado.
