The Dodgers swept their first home series of the season, as they shut the Nationals out twice over the weekend for a league-best 8-2 record. Tonight, the Dodgers and Rockies square off for the second series of the season, this time not at Coors Field. The Rockies are coming off getting swept in San Francisco, where they were outscored 11-4 in their weekend series.

Trevor Bauer makes his first home start as a Dodger. This is Bauer’s second start against the Rockies this season, as he started the second game of the season in Colorado. In his first start, Bauer tossed six no-hit innings before allowing four runs in four batters in the seventh inning. Last time out, Bauer allowed two runs and three hits in 6 2/3 innings. He’s only allowed six hits in 13 innings and has struck out 20 of the 51 batters he’s faced while walking only three (with two HBPs. However, three of the six hits he’s surrendered have left the yard.
Antonio Senzatela gets the ball for the Rockies. He started opposite Bauer in the second game of the season and the Dodgers lit him up to the tune of nine hits and seven runs in 3 1/3 innings. He rebounded well in his second start of the season, at Coors against the Diamondbacks. Senzatela tossed eight shutout innings, allowing only four hits and two walks. He’s never been much of a strikeout pitcher, which is a bold approach when half of your games are at the BABIPpiest stadium in baseball. His 13.5 percent strikeout rate in 2020 was the worst among qualified starters. He didn’t throw enough innings to qualify in 2019, but among pitchers with 120 or more innings pitched he had the second-worst strikeout rate (13.1 percent). He’s struck out only five of 49 batters he’s faced this year.
Mookie Betts returns to right field today and will lead off. Justin Turner gets the night off with Edwin Rios starting at third.

Betts will be off for the finale of this series before the Dodgers square off with the Padres for the first time this year. Betts said most of the pain came while running and not throwing, so that’ll be something to keep an eye on today and tomorrow.
