Despite a midgame rain delay, the Dodgers were still able to best the Nationals 5-3 Saturday night in DC.
They only totaled five hits, but they were timely — namely Gavin Lux’s RBI double in the fourth and AJ Pollock’s infield single in the sixth, the latter of which gave the Dodgers a 4-3 lead at the time.
Albert Pujols and Will Smith sacrifice flies accounted for the first two Dodger runs.

Clayton Kershaw drew the start and gave up three runs on three hits in four innings before the rain delay. Yan Gomes tagged him for a 3-run dinger in the fourth before the rain paused the game.
After the return, Brusdar Graterol, Joe Kelly, Phil Bickford and Blake Treinen held Washington scoreless until the ninth.
Kenley Jansen got the ball and allowed a single and issued a walk to begin the ninth, but two strikeouts and a line out later and the Dodgers were victorious.

Their 8th-consecutive win moves them to 52-31 on season. The Diamondbacks were up 5-4 against the Giants while writing this, but they’re down 6-5 now. If Arizona finds a way to win (they probably won’t), the Dodgers would be in first place in the NL West.
The Dodgers will start someone tomorrow in a bullpen game (Edwin Uceta? David Price?). Whoever it is, he’ll be opposed by Joe Ross. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 a.m. Pacific time. That’s not a typo.
