After taking the first two games of the series, the Dodgers lost tonight, 5-4. Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright dominated for long stretches, but a furious rally late knocked him out and came up just short in the end.

Wainwright continues to be ageless, but the Dodgers capitalized early with three straight hits in the 1st, capped by a Corey Seager double for the first run.
Wainwright settled in from there to say the least, retiring the next 15 batters in a row. Max Muncy ended this streak in the 6th with his 31st homer of the year, a solo shot.
Mitch White unfortunately couldn’t replicate his one great appearance, giving up four runs in five innings, including a two-run shot to Yadier Molina.
Brusdar Graterol got a scoreless inning after loading the bases, Neftali Feliz followed with another scoreless frame, and then Shane Greene gave up a run on a solo homer to cap the scoring for the Cards.
Wainwright actually continued into the 9th, but the Dodgers mounted a furious rally behind a Trea Turner infield single, a Mookie Betts single, and then a Seager single that scored a run and knocked him out of the game. The only out he got was a Muncy line out to right.
That mess led to Giovanny Gallegos entering. He started by getting Will Smith to line out to deep right for a sac fly to make it 5-4, and then a strike out ended it.
