Dodgers Prospect Notes – 9/20/21: Bobby Miller K’s career-high 8, Miguel Vargas wins batting title

Dodgers Prospect Notes brings the latest on a few prospects in the system that had performances worth paying attention to.

——

Sunday was the last day of the season for Tulsa, and 2020 1st round pick Bobby Miller was still breaking new ground.

Miller’s line from his last two starts of the season was stellar: 6.2 IP, 5 hits, 1 walk, 1 run, and 12 strikeouts.

In looking towards 2022, and what might signal a major league callup, both Josiah Gray and Andre Jackson had outings where they came in after openers for Oklahoma City, and both of them made their next appearance in Dodger Blue. Miller certainly has the talent for a similar rise next season.

——

Miguel Vargas put a stamp on his excellent 2021 season as well.

Vargas wound up slashing .320/.386/.521 for Tulsa, finishing in the top 5 in the AA Central in wRC+, wOBA, and OPS, and all of this despite being 3 years younger than average for the level.

Today was the end of the season for Tulsa, Great Lakes, and Rancho Cucamonga, all of whom missed the playoffs this year. Oklahoma City will continue playing thru October 3rd.
