Dodgers, Dave Roberts agree to 3-year contract extension

It was only a matter of time, but the Dodgers and Dave Roberts have agreed to a 3-year contract extension through the 2025 season. Roberts was entering the final year of his last contract extension, and there was no benefit for the team nor him to have him to be a lame duck manager.

Roberts has led the Dodgers to a 542-329 record (.620 winning percentage) in his six seasons as LA’s manager. That includes a World Series championship, two additional trips to the World Series (one of which should have been another title) and five NLCS appearances. He also won the 2016 National League Manager of the Year.

It’s only fitting Andrew Friedman would want to extend the best manager in the team’s history, and it makes all the sense in the world for Roberts to stay. Yes, he may not be the best tactician, but there’s more to managing than knowing which pitcher to bring in or which player to start. I’d take Roberts over any other manager in the game, and he’s been a stabilizing force since he took the job in 2016.

Zero lies detected.
