On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared Massey (Dodgers Nation) and I talk about the first week of spring training and our pending trips to Arizona.
First off, we want to thank all those who donated to the Pateron. We are truly very appreciative of the generosity.
Well, the Dodgers didn’t sign Yoan Moncada. We lament on that fact, but the “missed” opportunity wasn’t without reason, as the Dodgers apparently plan to go really big during the next July 2 period, which could include Yadier Alvarez. Also, the Dodgers are seen as the top suitor for Hector Olivera.
Julio Urias is turning some heads, and it just turned to March. He threw a live batting practice session on Sunday and was awfully impressive. He struck out Joc Pederson and Alex Guerrero while getting Chris Heisey to ground out He also walked O’Koyea Dickson. He’s ready for the majors mentally, but he needs a full season in the minors to build his stamina. The Dodgers must resist the temptation to recall him too soon.
The Dodgers signed two relievers — one good, one not so good. Mike Adams and Chad Gaudin are the newest Dodgers. Daniel wrote about Adams here, and Mike wrote about Gaudin here. Jared had some strong-ish words about the Gaudin signing.
As always, we close with a Q&A segment. Thank you for the questions.
