Podcast: ‘Dugout Blues’ episode 251 – Roberts, Kelly, McCreery, rumors

On this episode of “Dugout Blues,” Jared and I are back for the holidays with, well, not a ton of gifts.

Dave Roberts finally got his contract extension since we last recorded. It’s a bit ridiculous it took this long, but the main thing is he got it. He’s the right person for this job.

The Dodgers agreed to terms with Joe Kelly, but it isn’t official yet. Jared and I are a bit skeptical about this one, despite his really good stuff.

Jeff Kingston was brought in from Seattle to be the new assistant general manager of the Dodgers. He doesn’t have a general manager to assist, but he’s basically the GM.

The Dodgers also made a minor trade, bringing in the tall, left-handed Adam McCreery from Atlanta. He has a heavy low-90s sinker, but he also has command/control issues. He misses bats and keeps the ball in the yard, but you know, the walks. He’ll be a project, provided he makes it all the way through the winter on the 40-man.

All arbitration-eligible players (Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood, etc.) have been tendered contracts. There’s no guarantee all of them will make it through the winter still with the Dodgers, but for now, they’re Dodgers.

We end with what I hope was a good Q&A (I had to duck out early). Please keep the questions coming.
