OOTP 21: March 27, 2020 – Giants 4, Dodgers 3

The San Francisco Giants scored a 4-3 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Giants’ right fielder Mike Yastrzemski nabbed top player honors in the tight contest by 3-for-4 with a home run and a triple. Johnny Cueto limited the Dodgers to three runs — all via home run — in 6 1/3 innings of work and struck out six.

The Dodgers led 1-0 in the fourth inning on the strength of a Cody Bellinger solo home run. However, Brandon Crawford launched a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning off Clayton Kershaw to put the Giants up 3-1.

We’ll relax tonight and enjoy this win,” Yastrzemski said.

Kershaw wasn’t his sharpest, as he allowed four runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked one hitter and struck out five. Joe Kelly, Caleb Ferguson and Adam Kolarek combined for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

At the plate, Max Muncy and Joc Pederson joined Bellinger by swatting solo home runs, but it wouldn’t be enough as the top three of Justin Turner, Corey Seager and Mookie Betts combined to go 0-for-11 on the day.

Caleb Ferguson suffered a mild hamstring injury, because he’s a #TrueDodger. He’s not expected to miss any time.

The loss drops the Dodgers to 1-1 on the season. David Price makes his Dodger debut tomorrow. He’ll square off against Jeff Samardzija.
