The Arizona Diamondbacks bested the Los Angeles Dodgers, 11-0, at Chase Field. Nick Ahmed was one of the standouts. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Arizona has run its win streak to 8 in a row.
Nick. Fucking. Ahmed. JUST WALK HIM!
With Arizona leading 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Ahmed hit a curveball from Walker Buehler for a 2-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Diamondbacks ahead, 3-0.
“I like the roll we’re on,” said Arizona manager Torey Lovullo.
Buehler and Joe Kelly got rocked. They allowed eight of the 11 runs in just five innings. That’s not terribly reassuring. Also, Kenley Jansen and Pedro Baez have seen their season ERAs balloon to just a little more than 5 and almost 6! Methinks there could be a trade for a reliever before the deadline.
The Dodgers’ offense couldn’t get anything going. They had seven hits and a solid five walks, but also struck out 12 times. That’ll do it, unfortunately.
After a day off, the Dodgers travel to San Francisco to take on the hated Giants. Julio Urias is set to start against Jeff Samardzija.
