D-backs 9, Dodgers 3: Christian Walker humiliates team that continues to play fodder day after day

Dodgers ran out an impressive lineup of replacement level fodder today and were quite frankly lucky to score three runs. Meanwhile, Christian Walker continued to humiliate the Dodgers as he homered twice in a 9-3 victory for the Diamondbacks.

Or something, I dunno, I didn’t wait for the game to finish to publish this.

Landon Knack was effective against most batters today, and in fact he was pretty great if you remove the pitches to Walker. Unfortunately, you can’t do that, and Christian Walker hit two homers off him for three runs, with Joc Pederson adding another as well to account for all four runs in his outing.

It was basically literally those three swings that cost him: 4.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 85 Pitches.

Homers are bad for pitchers, folks.

The Dodgers did fight back a bit in the 4th, as back-to-back singles from Andy Pages and Miguel Vargas started the inning, then a one-out walk from Chris Taylor loaded them up. An Enrique Hernandez groundout plated a run, and then an Austin Barnes blooper scored a pair to make it 4-3.

That was it.

Relieving Knack, Anthony Banda was victimized in the 5th as an error by Freddie Freeman led to a predictable stolen base against Barnes and then a single from Ketel Marte scored him to push the lead to 5-3.

After Banda got five outs, it was Alex Vesia with a scoreless inning. However, after Nick Ramirez got a scoreless 8th, he gave up four runs in the 9th to push it to 9-3.

The offense basically did nothing else so … yeah.
