The Dodgers comeback fell short yesterday, as Shohei Ohtani completed more than an inning for the first time as a Dodger but Ben Casparius and Luis Garcia (and the Dodger defense) struggled in a 9-5 loss. Today, they turn to another bullpen game to go for a series win before returning home on Tuesday.

Lou Trivino starts the bullpen game for the Dodgers. Casparius is definitely unavailable after taking down four innings yesterday, and Anthony Banda has thrown in back-to-back games, putting his availability in jeopardy. Tanner Scott had thrown in three of four prior to yesterday, so we’ll see if he’s available for much (though, the Dodgers are off tomorrow). Justin Wrobleski figures to take the bulk of today’s game, last having pitched Tuesday in Colorado following the Ohtani/Casparius piggyback last Sunday. He turned in five solid innings at Coors, allowing two runs and five hits with a career-high seven strikeouts.
Kris Bubic gets the ball for Kansas City in the midst of a (relatively) cold streak. Bubic had a 1.43 ERA after his first 12 starts of the season, but has allowed 10 earned (and two unearned) in 15 2/3 over his last three starts to elevate his ERA to a terrible 2.18 on the season. He’s only allowed four homers in 15 starts and has the same number of scoreless starts as he does starts where he’s allowed more than one run (six each).

The Dodger bullpen game gets a reinforcement today, as Noah Davis was recalled. Garcia was DFA’d to make room for him on the 26-man, and Edgardo Henriquez was activated off the 60-day IL and kept him in AAA replacing Garcia’s 40-man spot.

First pitch was scheduled for 11:10 AM PT, but will not start on time and will be in a weather delay. When it does start, it’ll be on SportsNet LA.
