Well, I wouldn’t blame you for having a bit of deja vu today, as it was yet another Dodgers starter taking a no-hitter late, and yet another poor hitting performance that became a slim lead. However, this time Blake Treinen and Tanner Scott did the job to back Tyler Glasnow, and the Dodgers secured a 3-1 win over the Rockies. Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts came up with the big hits on the other end.

After having his start pushed back due to some back issues, Tyler Glasnow started the game strong by striking out the side in the 1st.

The 2nd didn’t go as smoothly, as he issued a lead-off walk, which led to a stolen base. A flyball advanced the runner, and a sac fly from Kyle Farmer followed to put the Rockies up 1-0 before Glasnow got his fourth strikeout to end the inning.
Glasnow started the 3rd with a strikeout, but gave up another walk and stolen base after. Thankfully, a groundout just advanced the runner to third, and his sixth strikeout ended that threat without damage.
He then finally got another clean frame in the 4th, which included his seventh strikeout, and then got an efficient 10-pitch 5th. All Glasnow did in the 6th was strikeout the side again to put him in double digits for the night, and he even came out for the 7th for yet another clean inning and another strikeout to end his outing.
He ended with 14 retired in a row, and despite not giving up a hit, he exited with the game tied: 7 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 11 K, 105 Pitches.

On the other side was Chase Dollander, who has great stuff and has been very effective on the road. That showed early on, as he retired the first six batters he faced.
The Dodgers rallied in the 3rd, as Hyeseong Kim led off with a walk, stole second, and Andy Pages poked a grounder to second that moved him up to third. Ben Rortvedt then got hit by a pitch on an 0-2 count, which put runners on the corners with one out. However, that chance was wasted when Shohei Ohtani struck out and Mookie flew out to right. While the offense needs to generate more chances as a unit, moments like that are an obvious situation where they simply need at least one.
Dollander resumed in the 4th with a clean frame, and despite Michael Conforto leading off the 5th with a single for the first Dodger hit, Dollander faced the minimum after getting a double play.
While it seemed like he was cruising, Dollander didn’t look at all comfortable to start the 6th when he issued a lead-off walk to Rortvedt. Something was wrong with his leg and he had to exit the game.
That was a break for the Dodgers, and Ohtani followed that with a walk to put a pair on, and after a Mookie flyout cornered the runners, Freddie bounced a double to tie the game at 1-1.

They intentionally walked Max Muncy to load them up, at which point Teoscar Hernandez continued to struggle by striking out on three pitches, and Conforto grounded out to end that chance. Brutal again.
The 7th was their big chance, as with one down, Pages got hit by a pitch, and he got to third on a two-out Ohtani double. That gave them another golden chance, and Mookie cashed in with a two-run single to make it 3-1.

The bats then made four straight outs to close the book on them, but that was enough.

Hey, bullpen adventures, remember those?
Well, it was a replay of the Yoshinobu Yamamoto no-hit attempt, as Blake Treinen entered, and this time he got a 1-2-3 frame with a strikeout on just 11 pitches.
Blake flawless after Glasnow, but the worst pitcher in history after Yamamoto. A true patriot.

Similarly, Tanner Scott followed for the save in the 9th. He started ominously by giving up a double on a ball Alex Call got a horrible read on, but rebounded with a soft liner for an out. Despite leaving a slider up, he got a one bouncer to Mookie and a lineout to third to end the game.
Phew.
Remind me to never again complain about beating bad teams or hitting bad pitchers. It's actually very good and valuable and good teams should do this. Quote this back to me in the future if I whine.
