Coming into his last start, Justin Wrobleski had given up eight homers on the season. After two consecutive four-homer games, he has now matched that in his last two starts. Remarkably, they were still in the game for a bit, but the Dodgers bullpen continued to pour gasoline on the fire and made it a blowout win for the Cubs. 10-5.
======
As mentioned, Justin Wrobleski did not have a good time, giving up three two-run homers and a solo shot.
His ERA has gone from 2.62 to 3.31 in his last two outings: 4.1 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 3 BB, 4 K, 91 Pitches.

Rough, to say the least.
Edgardo Henriquez relieved him in the 5th, getting the final two outs of the inning. However, after getting one out in the 6th via a caught stealing following a single, he then walked the bases loaded. All of those runs ended up scoring after Tanner Scott started with a strikeout, but then walked a run in after getting ahead 0-2 and then gave up a single to score two more to make it a 10 spot.
Jonathan Hernandez amusingly then got two scoreless frames. Go figure.

Remarkably, it was the Dodgers who got out to an early lead against Matthew Boyd, as they started the game with singles from Shohei Ohtani and Andy Pages, and then Tommy Edman hit his third homer of the season for a three-run shot.

They didn’t do much else for a bit, but in the 4th they rallied after a Kyle Tucker walk and Teoscar Hernandez single with one out. Eliezer Alfonzo Jr. then singled back up the box with two down, and while Tucker stopped at third, a bobble by Pete Crow-Armstrong in center allowed him to score for their fourth run.

After a quiet 5th, Tucker got thrown out trying to stretch a single into a double before Teoscar hit his 11th of the season to give them a fifth run. At least Teoscar is seemingly starting to find it a bit.

Boyd also got two outs in the 7th before turning it over to their pen. They ended the game.
======
69-44, four losses in a row and the second-best record in ball.
The series continues tomorrow on TBS at 2:05 PM HT/5:05 PM PT/8:05 PM ET. Of course, the notable story will be the Dodgers debut of Tarik Skubal, and he’ll be on the mound against Javier Assad.
